Intermediate Muay Thai
An intermediate Muay Thai session with warm-up, technique rounds, and conditioning.
Warm-Up
5 minutes. Raise heart rate, loosen hips/shoulders, and prep footwork.
Round 1
Hands + Footwork. Work crisp straight punches; reset your stance after each burst.
Round 2
Kicks + Teeps. Balance and hip turn. Keep the non-kicking hand glued to your guard.
Round 3
Knees (Clinch Simulation). Tall posture, hips in. Drive knees straight up; control your return.
Finisher
Move fast but stay clean—no sloppy reps.
Cool-Down
Breathe slowly and relax the hips/back after strikes.
Why Every Strike Targets Your Core First
Jab–Cross, Teep, and Roundhouse Kick all originate from hip rotation and transverse abdominal engagement — the heavy bag combinations then stress these same patterns under fatigue. Burpees and Mountain Climbers reinforce the explosive hip extension that powers knee strikes, making conditioning work double as strike-specific training.
The Cardio Demands Muay Thai Hides From You
Muay Thai rounds spike into anaerobic threshold repeatedly then force partial recovery — Jump Rope mimics this exact alactic-aerobic cycling before you ever throw a punch. Shadow Boxing at intensity primes neuromuscular firing patterns so technique holds when your glycolytic system is maxed out mid-combination.
Building Output You Can Repeat in Round 3
This session uses specificity-first periodization: technique work precedes conditioning so motor patterns are encoded before fatigue degrades form. Hip Flexor and Hamstring Stretches post-session directly address the two tissues most shortened by repeated Teep and Roundhouse chambering — prioritize 60-second holds here if kick height or hip turnover feels restricted.
