Intermediate Meniscus Rehab
Low-impact knee rehab focused on quad/hip strength, controlled range of motion, and balance.
Warm-Up
Increase blood flow and gently prepare the knee for strengthening. 5 minutes.
Activation Circuit
Focus on quality reps and steady breathing. Rest as needed to keep form clean.
Knee Strength
Functional work with knee alignment; use a small step and shallow depth. Hold a chair for support if needed.
Balance
Light fingertip support is OK. Keep pelvis level and knee soft (not locked).
Cool-Down
Gentle stretching to reduce stiffness around the knee. 3 minutes.
Loading the Knee Without Stressing the Meniscus
Quad Sets and Terminal Knee Extensions target the VMO in near-full extension—the range where compressive load on the meniscus is lowest. Straight Leg Raises and Glute Bridges offload the joint entirely while building the proximal strength your knee depends on for stability.
Why Meniscus Tissue Demands Patience
The meniscus has poor vascular supply in its inner two-thirds, meaning healing is slow and load tolerance must be earned gradually. Premature shear forces—from deep flexion or rotational stress—are the most common setback triggers, which is why every exercise here stays within a protected range.
Proximal-to-Distal Strength Sequencing
Clamshells and Glute Bridges build hip abductor and posterior chain control before Step Ups and Single-Leg Balance demand it under load—a deliberate proximal-first progression that reduces valgus collapse at the knee. To personalize, increase Step Up height by 2 inches only when Single-Leg Balance holds steady for 30 seconds without compensation.
