Teto's Pull-Up Bar CrossFit for Soccer Session
A high-intensity CrossFit-style workout for Teto with lots of pull-up bar work to build soccer-ready power, conditioning, and stability while protecting a sensitive low back.
Prep Flow
Smooth pace. Keep breathing steady and ribs down during core work.
Bar Prep
Easy shoulder activation. Stay long through the spine; avoid shrugging into the ears.
Superset A
Controlled hinge. Push-ups: full-body tension, no sagging hips.
Pull-Up Bar Strength
Choose a version you can do with clean reps. If needed: jumping pull-up + slow lower.
Power Primer
Land softly and stand tall on the box. If unsure, step down (don't jump down).
MetCon: Swing and Brace
Swings are hip snap, not a squat. Side plank stays stacked—don't rotate.
Bar Density Block
Quality reps only. If you fail reps, switch to dead hang or scapular pull-ups.
Soccer Sprints: Shuttle Intervals
Hard effort, clean turns. Keep torso stable; don't twist aggressively on pivots.
Cool-Down
Hips and back decompression. Downshift breathing and open the front of the hips to help the low back.
Pull-Up Bar as a Soccer Power Tool
Dead hangs decompress the lumbar spine while building passive shoulder stability, scapular pull-ups train the serratus and lower traps for overhead force transfer, and full pull-ups develop the lat-to-hip chain that powers sprinting acceleration. Every bar movement doubles as spinal traction — strength work that actively protects your back.
What Soccer Really Demands From Your Spine
High-speed cutting, aerial duels, and repeated trunk rotation create compressive and shear forces on the lumbar discs that accumulate across a 90-minute match. The dead bug and side plank target deep stabilizers — transverse abdominis and quadratus lumborum — that resist those forces without loading the spine, keeping you explosive through the final whistle.
Conjugate Conditioning for the Pitch
Kettlebell swings and box jumps train the posterior chain's rate-of-force development — the same hip hinge pattern that drives headers and sprint starts — while shuttle runs replicate soccer's 6–10 second maximal efforts with incomplete recovery. To personalize: track your pull-up rep count each session and add one rep to your working set every two weeks as your primary progressive overload marker
